Man to appear in court after death of Edinburgh dad outside social club

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a dad in Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers from Police Scotland arrested the 42-year-old after Andy McCarron died in hospital following an incident outside Edinburgh City FC’s social club on Lochend Road South at 12.15am.

People flooded Facebook with tributes to Andy, 49, who worked for notorious property boss David Love.

Following the disturbance cops taped off a large area of the street as they probed the death.

The man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today.

A Police Scotland statement read: "A man has now been charged following the murder of a 49-year-old man in Lochend Road South on Sunday 21st July.

"The 42-year-old will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 22nd July."
