A man is to appear in court this morning accused of threatening staff and stealing cash and property from a city centre shop.
The incident took place at around 7:30pm last night at a store in College Green, Dublin 2.
The man is alleged to have entered the shop and demanded cash from a shop assistant.
He was later arrested by gardai and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10:30am this morning.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí have arrested and charged a man (late 30s) in relation to a robbery at a shop in College Green, Dublin 2 that occurred last night, Wednesday the 18th March, 2020.
"At approximately 7.30p.m., a man entered the shop and threatened staff and demanded cash from the shop assistant. The man left the scene on foot, with a sum of cash and property from the shop.
"Gardaí from Pearse Street attended the scene and carried out a search of the area and a man in his late 30s was arrested a short time later.
"He was taken to Pearse Street Garda Station and charged and is due to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court number 3, this morning, Thursday 19th March, 2020 at 10.30a.m."
