Man throws chemicals in woman's face in early morning Basford attack

A woman was taken to hospital after she said someone threw acid over her in the early hours of the morning (Monday, April 6).

Police, who were called out by East Midlands Ambulance Service, say the incident happened in Wilton Street, Basford, at around 1am.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "It’s believed the victim was staying at an address and went outside for 60 seconds, she returned inside screaming.

"It was reported that an unknown man has thrown liquid on her face and caused a burning sensation."

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Waldram, of Nottinghamshire Police, added: “It’s believed that this is an isolated incident.

“The woman was taken to QMC and discharged shortly after with no lasting injury and the chemicals is suspected to be a cleaning fluid or bleach."

Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 19 of April 6.
