Man threw 3-month-old puppy out of window during car chase, Wise County sheriff says

FORT WORTH, Texas _ A man threw a 3-month-old puppy out of a car window Wednesday during a car chase through Wise and Tarrant counties, officials said.

Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said in a Facebook post that the driver fled from deputies in southern Wise County when they tried to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver sped south onto FM 156, where he suddenly threw a Labrador-mix puppy out the driver's side window onto the road, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA reported.

Soon after, the car ran off the road, and the driver fled on foot, Akin said in the post.

"Deputies pursued, but the bad guy got away," he wrote.

More than four grams of meth were found inside the car, officials said. The puppy was rescued and was at Wise County Animal Shelter as of Thursday night.

"Meth destroys families and is hazardous for pets," Akin said in his Facebook post.
