Man threatens to kill worshippers inside Brooklyn synagogue, authorities say

NEW YORK _ The day before a hate fueled anti-Semitic stabbing in Monsey, N.Y., a seemingly unhinged man wandered into a Brooklyn synagogue and made chilling threats, officials said Monday.

Urias Suero, 41, allegedly entered Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters in the Crown Heights neighborhood around 7 a.m. Friday and interrupted prayers to say he was there to kill.

He said, "Kill, kill, kill," according to court papers.

He was arrested the next day for making terrorist threats, aggravated harassment as a hate crime and menacing as a hate crime.

He was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Monday, wearing a green sweatshirt, jeans and black gloves.

Judge Michael Kitsis issued orders of protection for three men who had been present inside the shul.

"You must stay away from all of them," said Kitsis. "Stay away from their houses of worship."

Calling Suero's actions "very erratic, bizarre behavior," the judge ordered a psychological exam.

Suero was ordered held without bail. He is due to appear again in court Tuesday.
