A man and teenage girl who allegedly threatened a driver with a nail gun during a cross-border police chase have been charged with a string of offences.
Police allege the man, 36, was driving a stolen truck, with a 19-year-old girl as passenger, which rammed a car into a tree at Holmview, southwest of Brisbane, on Friday night.
Polair tracked the vehicle as it drove towards the Gold Coast and officers set up a tyre deflation device at roadworks on the Pacific Motorway at Mudgeeraba.
The truck continued with blown-out tyres, driving into northern New South Wales before doubling back to Coolangatta.
Police allege the pair approached a car which had pulled over on the Gold Coast Highway and threatened the driver with a nail gun.
The teenage girl was arrested by police, but her companion sped away.
He allegedly then demanded the keys to another car at Palm Beach, but the driver drove off.
Police said that just after midnight they caught up with the man, who kicked an officer during his arrest.
He has been charged with a raft of offences, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, armed robbery, assaulting police, possessing tainted property and driving while a relevant drug is present in blood.
He was due to face court on Saturday.
Police allege the truck was stolen from a shopping centre at Nerang on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old girl was also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted robbery and assaulting police.
