Man threatened with handgun, hammer during carjacking in Adelaide

The ute was found shortly after police began a search of the area.

A man has been threatened with a hammer and a handgun while having his ute stolen in what police believe was a targeted attack in Adelaide's north-eastern suburbs overnight.

At 10:30pm on Thursday, the man was sitting in his Mitsubishi Triton ute on Pauls Drive, when a silver vehicle stopped near him.

Two men wearing balaclavas got out of the car, one was armed with a hammer, the other man had a handgun.

Both men threatened the victim forcing him from his ute before droving off in it, followed by a third man in the silver car.

The victim, in his 20s, was not physically injured.

A police dog patrol and the police helicopter were called to search the area.

The stolen ute was found abandoned about 40 minutes later, 3 kilometres from where the robbery occurred.

Police are calling for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
