A Perthshire man threatened to send intimate pictures of his ex-girlfriend to her grandparents - and also post them on Facebook.
One of the images showed the female “in a state of undress,” Perth Sheriff Court was told.
The “revenge porn” threat led to 27-year-old Keith Rennie, of Springbank Road, Alyth, being fined £800 when he appeared for sentence at Perth Sheriff Court.
The accused, who is hoping to join the army, admitted that on October 9, 2018, at his home, he threatened to disclose the image - and in doing so intended to cause her fear, alarm or distress.
Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney said they had been in a relationship between January and August, 2018.
There was an “interchange” of text messages last October.
“The focus of the texts was originally to do with the return of a phone charger but turned to whether the complainer was with another male.
“A text message was sent, containing a photograph of the complainer sleeping.
“The accused said: ‘One of, like, 15, pics which will be going up on Facebook - and through your gran and grandparents’ house door. Thanks for showing me where they live.’
“He then sent a photograph of the complainer in a state of undress and said he has ‘got all his pics in order.’
“He then told her she might want to warn her family too,” added the fiscal.
She went to the police, Rennie was arrested and, when interviewed, admitted he had sent the messages.
He claimed he had “no intention” of sending the messages to her family.
Solicitor Nikki Brown said Rennie had subsequently apologised to his ex-partner.
The picture of his former girlfriend had been taken as they were getting ready to go out.
Rennie will pay the fine at £100 a month.
