A 26-year-old man was arrested after police offcers were threatened with a hammer.
The incident happened in the Anfield area on Wednesday when officers in an unmarked car were approached by a man who threatened them with a hammer.
The man was detained after a brief struggle and the hammer was seized by police. A spanner was also seized, police said.

The officers, from South Sefton, were investigating suspected drug offences in the area.
A man, 26, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
Police said: "Operation Pelican Officers have this afternoon arrested a 26-year-old male in the Anfield area for affray and possession of an offensive weapon. Officers were carrying out enquiries in relation to the supply of drugs in the South Sefton area when a male has approached officers in the unmarked police vehicle with a hammer and threatened them.

"The male has been detained after a short struggle and the hammer seized. The male was also found in possession of a spanner
"The male is now in police custody awaiting questioning by detectives"
The man has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
