Man tests positive to COVID-19 after London repatriation flight

A 29-year-old man has tested positive for coronavirus while in quarantine after arriving in Darwin on a repatriation flight from London.

The man, who arrived in Darwin on Sunday, tested positive at the Howard Springs quarantine facility, which is being used to isolate returned Australian travellers who have been stranded overseas due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement from the office of the Chief Minister said the man was "well and asymptomatic".

Eight Commonwealth repatriation flights are scheduled to land in Darwin, which the Federal Government says will bring home 1,300 Australians from South Africa, Europe and India.

The Northern Territory Government has confirmed six people who flew on India repatriation flight QF112 and landed in Darwin on October 27 have tested positive to coronavirus

More than 160 Australians who arrived in the Northern Territory from London on the first government-backed repatriation flight last month were released from quarantine last Friday.

The latest positive test brings the total number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the Northern Territory to 41.

The NT Government said all cases had been related to international or interstate travel.

There have been no recorded cases of community transmission in the Northern Territory.
