A motorist stopped by police on Sunday, told officers he was driving to Manchester from Liverpool, because the shops are better.
The driver was stopped by a police patrol after he set off from home in Liverpool.
Officers were enforcing the covid-19 lockdown restrictions advising against all but essential travel and stopped the man as he passed through Cheshire.
Patrols from the North West Motorways Police pulled the man over after tracking him for eight kilometres.
But things went from bad for worse for the driver, who didn't have insurance to cover the car he borrowed from his brother.

In tweets posted following their dealings with the driver, the police unit wrote: "Driver stopped for lane hogging over 8km (marker posts for distance).
"Found he'd borrowed his brother's car to go shopping in Manchester because the shop is better than the one at home in Liverpool.
"Assumed the insurance covers him, which it does not."
The tweets said he had been reported for driving offences and added: "If he stayed at home like he should, abided by the rules and observed road traffic law, perhaps the day wouldn't have turned out the same."
