Jan. 10--An Archer Heights man has been charged with child pornography after he videotaped a high school sophomore girl engaging in sexual acts with him without her consent, prosecutors said.
William Vazquez, 19, of the 4800 block of South Keating Avenue, was held in lieu of $100,000 bail by Judge Laura Marie Sullivan in bond court Saturday, but is being held without bail because he has a separate child pornography charge pending against him that was filed last spring.
In November 2014, Vazquez began sending Facebook messages to the 16-year-old girl, who he knew from grammar school, and asked to meet with her, said Assistant State's Attorney Patrick Turnock. They agreed to meet. Vazquez took the girl out for yogurt and asked her to come to his house afterward, but she declined because she had homework, Turnock said.
Vazquez agreed to take the girl home, but instead drove her to his house. The two entered Vazquez's house, began to watch movies, and then proceeded to the basement, where Vazquez's bedroom is located. The two then had sex, and Vazquez used his phone to record videos, Turnock said.
The girl was not aware that she was being recorded at the time, did not give consent to being recorded and did not indicate that she would agree to being recorded, Turnock said.
Vazquez continued to contact the girl through Facebook and asked her to have sex with him again, but the girl declined to meet him. Vazquez then sent the girl a video of her performing a sex act on him that had circulated, as well as a second video of their having sex, Turnock said.
Vazquez was aware that the girl was a minor, Turnock said.
Vazquez has an additional child pornography charge from March that is pending, prosecutors said. He had been free on $300,000 bond in that case.
