Those flying on a budget know that you will most likely have to take the longer fight to and from your destination to save some cash. But could you take a 50-hour flight for a holiday?
That is what self professed 'cheapskate' Bailey Turvey did.
The travel writer and content creator took his 38.4K TiKTok followers with him as he on budget planes from London Gatwick to Guatemala to avoid paying over £600 for the direct flight.

Instead, Bailey paid just £152. To put that into perspective - an anytime open return train ticket from Manchester to London is around £360.
In the video, he says: "I took a 50 hour flight to the other side of the world because I'm a cheapskate and didn't wanna pay over £600 to get there and this is how it went." During his trip Bailey has stop-overs in Barcelona and Boston before going on a five hour flight to Guatemala from JFK airport in New York.
At one point in the journey he had a mammoth 30-hour layover in Boston while he waited for his plane to JFK airport. Bailey recounts how he 'stupidly' didn't check the weather forecast for Boston and was met with freezing temperatures.
During his layover in Boston he spent the day wandering around Harvard University 'pretending' to be a student before heading to sleep due to jet lag. The next day Bailey rushes through JFK airport to catch a five hour flight to Antigua where the 'exhausted' traveller can finally put his feet up.
The video has just under 200K views with comments ranging from horrified to impressed. One person in the comments said: "As someone that absolutely hates being on planes I could never do this but kudos to you."

Another hilariously commented: "My back and legs says no". One viewer who found the video funny asked Bailey how much the ticket cost which he replied with: "Only £152 haha!"
While another person saw the upside of long haul flights and layovers and said: "Unpopular opinion but layovers are so good if they’re long and you get to see the place you’re staying in."
While an impressed viewer commented: "Deffo need to know how you booked this whirlwind of a flight."
