Man taken to safety after being spotted on wrong side of M60 bridge

A man was taken to safety after he was seen on the wrong side of a bridge on the M60.

Police were called to a section of the motorway at around 8.50am this morning (Wednesday) to reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

All traffic was diverted via an exit slip road while the man was taken down to safety.

Drivers were asked to find an alternative route during the incident, with queues forming.

The road eventually reopened an hour later at around 9.50am.

The man did not need hospital treatment, a spokesman for NWAS confirmed.

In a statement, GMP said: "Police were called at about 8.50am on Wednesday 21 April 2021, to reports of concern for the welfare of a man on the wrong side of [a] bridge.

"The man was brought down safely and the road re-opened at around 9.50am."
