Man taken to hospital with stab wounds as armed police descend on Cardiff street

A man has been taken to hospital with stab wounds following an incident in Cardiff on Tuesday morning.

A 32-year-old man is in hospital where he is being treated for stab wounds which are described as non-life threatening following in incident in the Ely area of Cardiff this morning.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said officers were called to the junction of Wilson Road and Jackson Road at 10.15am following reports of an assault.

In a statement, they said: "At around 10.15am today police officers were called to a scene at the junction of Wilson Road and Jackson Road in the Ely area of Cardiff following reports of an assault. The ambulance service was also in attendance.

"A 32 year-old man from the Roath area of the city has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales where he is being treated for stab wounds which are described as non-life threatening.

"Two people have been arrested in connection with this incident which is still under investigation.

"Armed police officers were also deployed as a precaution to protect police officers and the public."

Officers were seen getting access to a house on Jackson Road at around 12pm and police dogs were also seen at the scene.

Armed police officers were also seen in the area but no street cordon was in place on Tuesday afternoon.
