Man taken to hospital with stab wound after 'large fight' in Rochdale

A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in a fight in Rochdale.

A total of three people were injured and six men are in custody being questioned tonight (Tues) after the disturbance.

Violence broke out on Yorkshire Street in the town centre shortly before 2pm this afternoon.

Police say they were called to reports of a large fight involving two groups of men.

During the altercation one man suffered a stab wound to his arm.

A knife was subsequently recovered from the scene the Manchester Evening News has been told.

Paramedics were called and a man was taken to hospital.

Two others were also hurt, although their injuries are not believed to be serious and have been described as 'superifical.'

A total of six people have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and are tonight in custody being questioned.

A large number of police cars and vans, including a dog unit, were seen at the scene close to the junction with Union Street this afternoon.

In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 1.45pm on Tuesday 3 March 2020 police were called to reports of a violent disorder on Yorkshire Street in Rochdale.

"Three men were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"Six men have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remain in custody."
