Man taken to hospital with serious injuries after bike crashes with pedestrian

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a pedestrian and a motorbike in Rochdale.

The smash took place on Halifax Road, in Littleborough, at around 12.30pm on Friday.

Paramedics attended the scene and a man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.

Halifax Road is shut in both directions between Wardle Road and Albert Royds Street following the collision.

There are reports of long delays in the area and bus services are also on diversion routes.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian.

"We have treated a male in his 40s. It looks like he has got serious leg injuries.

"We have taken the patient to hospital.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and the air ambulance."
