Man taken to hospital with serious head injury after being hit by Audi in Wigan

A man has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury after being hit by a car in Wigan .

Emergency services were called to Manchester Road,Tyldesley, just before 10am on Friday to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and an Audi A3.

A man, understood to be in his 60s, suffered a head injury and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by paramedics.

No arrest have been made.

The road remains closed between Church Road and Duke Street.

Transport bosses are urging drivers to use an alternative route.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "We were called shortly 9.55am to reports of a collision between an Audi A3 and a pedestrian.

"A male is believed to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

"No arrest have been made so far."

North West Ambulance Service confirmed that a male in his 60s suffered a head injury after the road traffic collision.

A spokesperson added: "We sent an ambulance to the scene and took one patient to hospital with a head injury.

"He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital."
