Man taken to hospital with 'life threatening injuries' after M60 incident

A man has been rushed to hospital following an incident on the M60 in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police have now confirmed the nature of the incident which took place on the anti-clockwise carriageway of Greater Manchester’s outer ring road.

The incident caused two lanes of the motorway to be shut around junction 23, in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Tameside.

Sadly, a man has been taken to hospital with ‘life threatening injuries’, authorities have confirmed.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News: “Police were called at around 1.20am this morning (August 31) to a report of a man falling from a bridge near junction 23 of the M60.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

“We were called to the M60 at 01:09am this morning,” a statement from North West Ambulances added.

It went on: “We have taken a patient to hospital.”

The road reopened fully just before 3:30am this morning, Highways North West confirmed.

As of Tuesday lunchtime, traffic alert service Inrix was not reporting any ongoing disruption on the M60.
