A man was rushed to hospital with knife wounds after what police called a 'serious assault'.
Detectives have launched an investigation and issued an appeal for witnesses.
No arrests have been made as yet.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to Victoria Avenue in Blackley, north Manchester, at 1.40am on Friday morning.
A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with 'knife wounds' a force spokesman said.
He has since been discharged and is recovering.

A police scene was in place on Friday morning, with section of pavement outside three houses sealed off near to the parade of shops and the Boots pharmacy before Victoria Avenue's junction with Alnwick Road.
Forensic investigators were also at the scene.
No further details have been released.
The victim has not been named.

Police said enquiries were continuing.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 1.40am on Friday, February 28, police were called to reports of a serious assault on Victoria Avenue in Blackley.
"A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with knife wounds.
"He has since been discharged.
"A police cordon was in place on Victoria Avenue which has now been closed.
"No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway."
