Man taken to hospital with head injury after 'multi-vehicle crash' in Rochdale

A man has been taken to hospital with a head injury after a 'multi-vehicle crash' in Rochdale.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Norden Road in Bamford at around 1.15pm today (Tuesday).

A man - aged in his 70s - was taken to hospital from the scene with a head injury, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

Three other people were 'walking wounded'.

Norden Road was blocked in both directions after the crash.

In a tweet, Manc Traffic said the 'multi-vehicle crash' was 'causing queues both ways between Tesco Express and Norford Way'.

Pictures taken at the scene show a number of police cars in attendance as well as an ambulance.

The vehicles appear to be badly damaged, with debris from the crash strewn across the road.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At 1.15pm on Tuesday 5 January 2020, police were called to a report of a collision on Norden Road, Rochdale.

"Officers are in attendance."

A spokesperson for NWAS said: "We received a call at 13:20 to reports of an RTC.

"We have taken a man in his 70s to hospital with a head injury.

"Three others are walking wounded."
