Man taken to hospital with head injury after being hit by car in Manchester

A man was taken to hospital after hit by a car in north Manchester last night.

It happened on the A664 Rochdale Road in Blackley, at around 10:40pm.

Police said they were called by paramedics after a Volkswagon Golf collided with a pedestrian.

The man, whose age has not been disclosed, was taken to hospital with a head injury where he remains in a stable condition, a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesperson said in a statement released this afternoon.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing," they added.

Witnesses said there was a large emergency service presence at the scene near the Grove Inn pub following the crash.

Queues also built up in the area with traffic being diverted down Middleton Old Road for around an hour.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police on 0161 865 4741, quoting log number 3365 of 02/10/21.
