Man taken to hospital with head injuries after assault in Newport social club

A man has been taken to hospital with head and neck injuries following an assault in Newport.

Gwent Police are appealing for information and for any witnesses to come forward, after a 38-year-old man was assaulted outside the Maesglas Sports and Social Club, known locally as the Muffler.

The incident took place during the early hours of the morning Thursday, February 6 in the car park of the Maesglas Avenue social club.

The man is currently in the Royal Gwent Hospital in a stable condition.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "Officers in Newport are appealing for information/witnesses following an assault that occurred in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, February 6.

"Just before 1am a 38 year old man was attacked in the car park of Maesglas Sports and Social Club."

What happens when a crime is reported?

They added: "He received injuries to his head and neck and is currently in the Royal Gwent Hospital in a stable condition.

"If you witnessed the assault, or were in the area at the time of the assault and have any information/Dash Cam footage that you think could assist police, please call 101 quoting 2000044880."
