Man taken to hospital with critical burn injuries from shed fire at Marino in Adelaide's south

More than two dozen firefighters contained the blaze, which caused up to $100,000 worth of damage. (ABC News)

A man is in a critical condition after a fire in Adelaide's south this morning, with a neighbour praising the bravery of a man who rushed to the aid of the victim.

The 46-year-old has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with burns to his face, head and neck.

The fire on Dudley Crescent at Marino sent plumes of smoke across Adelaide's south this morning.

Neighbours who called emergency services at around 10:00am reported hearing a series of explosions before seeing "large plumes of black smoke".

One local resident, John, said he heard "popping explosions going off" and a "big boom".

"We could actually feel it, the house kind of shook," he said.

"A fellow down the street ran across the street and kicked in the door and tried to see if there was anyone [inside].

Another neighbour said the noise was like "shotgun shells going off".

"I was upstairs, looked out the window to see what it was, and the next minute there were all these explosions and flames going berserk," he said.

About 25 firefighters contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading to two adjoining properties.

The fire is believed to have caused up to $100,000 worth of damage to the shed, a car and a carport, but is not being treated as suspicious.

Last night, another large fire caused an estimated $1.5 million worth of damage at Largs North.

A 50-foot fibreglass boat under construction was found alight at a warehouse.

Metropolitan Fire Service crews managed to bring the blaze under control in the early evening but remained on site until late last night.
