Man taken to hospital in serious condition following 'assault' as police cordon off home and bus stop

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after reports of an assault in Harpurhey.

Paramedics rushed to Melbourne Street just before midday today (Friday) following the police incident.

The man was described as a 'major trauma patient' by the North West Ambulance Service, meaning he was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Police officers were pictured guarding a home on the street in the aftermath.

The glass in the door was smashed.

A bus stop was taped off (ASP)

An area of pavement, including a bus stop, on neighbouring Moston Lane was also cordoned off.

There were a number of police vans pictured at the scene.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We got called to Melbourne Street at 11.54am to a police incident.

"It looks like it was an assault. It's a male, taken to hospital, we sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance."
