Man taken to hospital in serious condition as police cordon off street

A man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after an incident in Rusholme.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Walmer Street, just off Wilmslow Road, at around 5pm on Saturday. A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said a man 'suffered a medical incident'.

The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital. Two ambulances were called as well as police officers.

A large cordon was in place on the street on Saturday evening. Officers could be seen guarding the cordon, which ran from Viscount Street to Wilmslow Road.

Serious collision investigators were also pictured at the scene. The cordon was lifted at around 9pm.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We had attended to a patient suffering a medical incident. A man, approximately in his 40s, has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"We received a call at 17.02 and two ambulances attended."

Greater Manchester Police declined to comment further on the incident.
