Man taken to hospital following 'medical emergency' in Manchester city centre

A man was taken to hospital after they collapsed with a 'medical emergency' in Manchester city centre.

The incident happened near China Lane and Back Piccadilly at around 9.50am on Wednesday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene just off Piccadilly and the area was cordoned off following a 999 call about a man who had collapsed.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital.

His condition has not been revealed.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "I can confirm we have attended to a patient suffering a medical emergency following a 999 call at 09.50.

"They have been taken to hospital."

Officers from Greater Manchester Police attended the scene to support paramedics, the force has confirmed.

The incident is not being treated as a crime.
