Man taken to hospital by air ambulance after getting trapped under tractor for three days in Co Antrim

An elderly man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance after he was reported to be trapped under a tractor for three days.

Emergency services including the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue, NI Ambulance Service and PSNI were called to the scene earlier today where the man was discovered at Bregagh Road in Armoy, Co Antrim.

The man, who is said to be in his late 70s, was taken by the charity air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast after midday on Friday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a male casualty trapped underneath a tractor.

“The casualty had been released using a telehandler before Firefighters arrived.

“Firefighters assisted colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service with transporting the casualty to the Air Ambulance, which then took the casualty to hospital.

“Firefighters then secured the tractor and made the scene safe. The incident was dealt with by 12.30pm.”

A spokesperson for the PSNI added: “The man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life threatening."

There are currently no further details at this time.
