Man taken to hospital after vehicle overturns in collision with parked cars in Sunderland

One man has been taken to hospital after a vehicle overturned and collided with two parked cars.

Police received a report of the collision near The Wolsley pub on Millum terrace, Sunderland, at around 10.55am.

The North East Ambulance Service and Northumbria Police remain at the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said a male driver has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Two other occupants of the vehicle are not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

Inquiries into the circumstances around the collision are ongoing, but no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

The spokesperson added: "A cordon remains in place at the scene and anyone who witnessed the collision is encouraged to report it through our website quoting log 263 01/04/21.”

Traffic is building in the area as the road is closed between Liberty Way and Harbour View.
