Van hits house and man taken to hospital after crash that sees street cordoned off in Adamsdown, Cardiff

A man has been taken to hospital after a van hit a house in Cardiff.

The vehicle hit the property in Blanche Street, Adamsdown at 5.05pm on Friday.

The occupants of the house have been evacuated and the road is currently shut.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported a  Toyota Van "backed right up to the window" of a terraced house.

One person who didn't see the crash but saw the aftermath said: "The road is cordoned off and a group of fire and rescue crew are coming and going out the building. Theres also a police van and officers standing at the cordon."

Police are still at the scene - with around five officers present, some of whom have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

South Wales Police said it was "waiting on an update from medical staff" on the condition of the driver.

A spokesman added: "We were called to reports of collision between a van and a house at about 5.05pm this evening in Blanche Street, Adamsdown.

The occupants of the property have been safely evacuated and the road is currently closed. One man, believed to be the driver of the van, has been taken to hospital."
