Man taken to hospital after suffering broken leg following fall at Blyth beach

A man suffered a broken leg following a fall at a Northumberland beach.

The Blyth Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the scene at around 5.25pm on Thursday.

The man had fallen from a structure near South Beach car park in Blyth, where he suffered a broken leg.

North East Ambulance Service attended and took the man to the hospital for further assessment and treatment.

The brigade has so far responded to 39 callouts this year.

The Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade is a voluntary shore based coastal rescue service formed in 1864.
