Man taken to hospital after six-vehicle M62 crash

A man has been taken to hospital after a six-vehicle crash on the M62.

Emergency services were called to the smash on the eastbound carriageway at around 2.15pm this afternoon (Friday).

The collision happened between junction 19 for Heywood and junction 20 for Rochdale.

It involved six vehicles, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service confirmed.

One man was taken to hospital from the scene, though the extent of his injuries have not yet been confirmed.

All traffic was temporarily stopped on the motorway after the crash.

Two lanes were then closed off while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Long queues of traffic built up in the area with cars backing up to junction 17 for the M60.

The stretch of motorway has since fully reopened.

In a statement, a NWAS spokesperson said: "The incident was reported as a six vehicle road traffic collision.

"We received the 999 call at 14.12.

"One man was taken to hospital.

"His injuries are unknown."
