Man taken to hospital after six-hour stand off at Falkirk train station

A man has been taken to hospital after a six-hour stand off with police at a Falkirk train station.

Police rushed to Falkirk Grahamston station at 8.50am this morning after reports of a man holding a knife to his throat.

The incident cause disruption to public transport in the area while the emergency services were on the scene.

Streets surrounding the station were also sealed off.

Police Scotland have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident and a 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital.

Normal service to transport links has resumed after police brought the stand-off to an end.

Chief Inspector Damian Armstrong, Local Area Commander for Falkirk , said: "The safety of the public and our officers, as well as the man, was at the forefront of our response.

"We thank the public for their cooperation as local and specialist officers worked to bring this to a safe and peaceful conclusion.

"I want to reassure people that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the local community."
