Man taken to hospital after serious assault at tram stop

A 37-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a serious assault at a tram stop.

He is believed to have been hit in the head at the city bound Meadows Way tram stop at around 6.55pm on Wednesday, July 1.

The extent of his injuries are not yet known.

Police have cordoned off the area and are making enquiries to establish the circumstances.

Inspector Amy English, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Officers were quickly on the scene and have been speaking to people in the area and working hard to establish what has happened.

"It is early in the investigation but it is believed to be a self-contained incident.

"A number of people are thought to have been in the area at the time and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or may have video footage of the attack."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 687 of 1 July 2020.
