Man taken to hospital after police close street for several hours

A man has been taken to hospital following an incident in Wigan.

Emergency services were called to Walthew Lane, Platt Bridge, just after 12pm this afternoon (June 17).

Police said they were responding to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man.

A man has since been taken to hospital, although the extent of his injuries have not been revealed.

Walthew Lane was closed for around two hours while emergency services attended.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing as many as eight police vehicles at the scene.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We were called to a private address in Walthew Lane at about 12.10pm.

"We sent two ambulances to the scene and we did take a patient to hospital."

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further information.
