Man taken to hospital after police called to assault at Piccadilly Gardens bus stop

A man was taken to hospital after police were called to an assault at a bus stop in Piccadilly Gardens.

Officers were called to the incident at the bus station at around 3.30am this morning (Wednesday).

A man, aged 20, 'believed he had been assaulted', police said.

He was taken to hospital in an ambulance from the scene with minor head injuries.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At about 3.30am today (21 July), officers were called to Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester city centre, to reports a man had been assaulted.

"A 20-year-old man believed he had been assaulted and was taken to hospital by ambulance. He has suffered minor head injuries.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

Some bus services were departing from different stops at the station this morning as police dealt with the incident.

The buses have now resumed nearly service.
