Man taken to hospital after Patchway fire

A man has been taken to hospital after a blaze broke out in a Patchway workshop.

Around 20 firefighters raced to Redfield Road after flames erupted at around 2:35pm today (January 6).

Crews from Patchway, Southmead, Avonmouth and Temple used jets to extinguish the blaze.

An Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival, firefighters found a fire affecting part of a car workshop.

"Firefighters used two 45 mm jets and one hose reel to extinguish the fire, and eight breathing apparatus for safety.

"One male casualty was handed over to ambulance crews and conveyed to hospital.

"The cause is thought to be accidental."
