Man taken to hospital after having liquid thrown in face in Crayford

Police and firefighters rushed to help a man who had a liquid thrown on his face on a busy high street.

The victim stopped a shopper in Crayford High Street at 4.50pm to tell them that someone had thrown a liquid in their face.

Locals reported the victim was in tears as he was inspected for any injuries before he was taken to hospital.

Police later said that tests suggested the substance was not “corrosive or noxious”.

A Met spokesman said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service after a man stopped a member of the public and informed him that a liquid had been thrown in his face.

“Officers attended with LFB. A man was located and assessed by LAS.

“He has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

“Testing indicates the substance is not corrosive or noxious.

“There have been no arrests.”
