Man taken to hospital after falling through ceiling at Lakota nightclub

A man was rushed to hospital after falling through the ceiling of a Bristol nightclub.

Paramedics were called to Lakota in the early hours of this morning (November 6) and treated a man at the scene.

An eyewitness told Bristol Live the music was turned off in the club while the man was taken to hospital, and the venue then reopened.

Another person, who did not wish to be named, said: "At around 12am a man fell through the 1st floor ceiling and was lying underneath the hole, being given gas and air for a while before being taken on a stretcher out of the club.

"Lakota then surprisingly carried on their event and didn’t even close the first floor, just barricaded off the hole."

A spokesperson for Lakota claimed the man who fell through the hole was a member of staff.

They said he is now recovering at home.

Ambulance service statement

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.05am to attend an incident at an address on Upper York Street, Bristol.

"It was reported to us that someone had fallen through the ceiling of a building.

"Our crews treated a male patient at the scene, and transported him to hospital for further care."

Lakota statement

A spokeperson for Lakota said: “We can confirm that a member of our staff was involved in an accident last night at the club. That member of staff is not in hospital and is recovering at home.

A small area of the club had been closed off - with barriers - to all members of the public and all staff. However, during the evening one member of staff accessed the space and unfortunately fell.

Whilst we dealt with our injured member of staff, the club was put on standby for 55mins with music off and lights on and the garden and outdoor area opened up for access.”
