Man taken to hospital after falling ill in Ayr town centre

A man has been taken to hospital after falling ill near Ayr High Street today.

Emergency services raced to the town centre scene as afternoon shoppers looked on.

Traffic in the area was delayed for a short time as ambulance crews assisted the individual, who had taken ill on Carrick Street near to Scotts Menswear.

Police also attended the scene and the man was subsequently taken to hospital.

The man's condition is not known at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a man taken unwell on Carrick Street in Ayr shortly after 4pm on Friday, June 4.

"The man has been taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service."
