Man taken to hospital after crash on M5

A car rolled onto its side after a crash on the M5.

The collision happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare and junction 20 for Clevedon.

A man was rescued from the car and taken to hospital.

One lane was closed while Avon Fire and Rescue Service attended.

After the rescue, Weston-super-Mare fire station tweeted: "Just returned from a road traffic collision M5 Northbound after a short hail storm involving one car, fortunately the occupant did not suffer any serious injuries #DriveSafe @aspolice @HighwaysSWEST."

Talking about the crash, a spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue had the following to say.

They said: "At 20:34, three crews from Weston fire station were mobilised to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the M5 Northbound.

"One male casualty was rescued by firefighters and conveyed to hospital by ambulance crews.
