Man taken to hospital after crash involving motorbike and car in Leigh

A man has been taken to hospital, after crashing with a car on a main road and coming off his motorbike.

The incident happened on Smallbrook Lane, Leigh at around 2pm, and the road was closed between the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, and Jack and Track Autocentre.

According to a police officer at the scene: "a young lad crashed into a car and came off his bike".

Witnesses also reported seeing an air ambulance land near the scene and carry someone away.

A motorbike was on its side, at the side of the road and a grey Audi A3 was on a patch of grass near the motorbike with a smashed windscreen and a badly damaged passenger door.

The road reopened just after 4.30pm.

Following the incident, police remained at the scene clearing debris from the road and pavement. They also spoke to people living on the street.

Just after 5pm, vehicle recovery firm Hough Green Garage arrived to take the motorbike away.

Manchester Evening News has contacted the police and ambulance service for comment.
