Man taken to hospital after crash between motorbike and van in Rochdale

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash between a motorbike and a van in Rochdale.

Emergency services were called to the collision on Redcross Street at around 2.15pm today (Wednesday).

A motorbike and van were involved in the smash, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed.

A man suffered a leg injury and was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary from the scene.

An air ambulance was sent to the incident but was not used.

In a statement, a spokesperson for NWAS said: "We were called at 2.15pm to reports of a road traffic collision between a motorbike and a van.

"We sent a road ambulance, a rapid response vehicles and an air ambulance.

"We took one male patient to the Manchester Royal Infirmary by road ambulance.

"The male looks to have a leg injury."

Pictures posted on social media earlier today show a number of police vehicles at the scene on Redcross Street.

The road appeared to be cordoned off by officers near the RSPCA animal centre.

The M.E.N has contacted Greater Manchester Police for a comment.
