Man taken to hospital after crash as road closed for hours overnight

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Bolton.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene of the smash on Crompton Way at around 10.45pm last night (Tuesday). The road was shut off between Thicketford Road and Firwood Grove.

A spokesperson for NWAS confirmed that a man - aged in his 20s - was seriously injured in the incident. He was taken to hospital.

The road was closed for several hours overnight from around 11pm, according to Transport for Greater Manchester. It was reopened at around 4am this morning.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 10.45pm on Tuesday 17 May 2022, we received a report of a collision on Crompton Way, Bolton. One male was taken to hospital.

"Anyone with information should share it via gmp.police.uk or 101 quoting 3836 17/05/22. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
