Man taken to hospital after complex rescue from Weston-super-Mare home

A man was taken to hospital after a complex rescue took place at a home in Weston-super-Mare.

South Western Ambulance Service received a call just before 10am on Sunday July 7  to a private address in the seaside town.

Almost three hours later, Weston's fire crews were called out to assist paramedics, according to Somerset Live.

An Avon Fire and Rescue Service  spokesman said: "We used our equipment to assist a member of the public. We used winches, various ropes and a bipod."

The ambulance service also said it sent various resources to the address.

A spokesman said one patient was later taken to Weston General Hospital.

The Weston fire crew tweeted about the rescue, saying: "Weston Fire Crews undertook a long and complex rescue today with the help from our Ambulance colleagues.

"Good skills, knowledge and discipline everyone."
