Man taken to hospital after collision near Seaham police station

A man has been taken to hospital after a collision on New Strangford Road in Seaham.

Police said they received a report of a collision involving a man and a vehicle today at 12.30pm near Seaham police station.

A 31-year-old man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with suspected neck and head injuries.

The road had been cordoned off as emergency services attended the scene.

Police say that enquiries are currently ongoing.

The road has now reopened.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Strangford Road, Seaham, at around 12.30pm today.

"A 31-year-old man with suspected neck and head injuries has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"If you have any information, call 101 quoting incident reference number 145 of December 3."

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.31 to reports of a RTC involving a pedestrian and vehicle at New Strangford Road in Seaham.

"We sent one ambulance and they took the patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital to be treated for neck and head injuries."
