Man taken to hospital after car flips onto roof in crash in Jesmond

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash on a street in Newcastle.

Police were called out to the incident on Osborne Road in Jesmond at just after 4pm on Monday following reports of a collision, during which a car overturned.

The road was closed as emergency services worked at the scene and a man was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from neck, chest and hip injuries.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "We are at the scene of a road traffic collision where there was a car on its roof.

"The road has been closed while we are waiting for the car to be taken away.

"A male has been taken to hospital by the ambulance service."

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We got a call at 4.04pm to reports of a car overturned on its roof on Osborne Road.

"We dispatched a paramedic ambulance and took one patient to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with neck, chest and hip injuries."
