Man taken to hospital after being struck by car

Emergency services sealed off a road after a pedestrian was struck by a car.

Merseyside Police confirmed the casualty, a man in his 50s, has been taken to hospital after being hit by a Nissan Qashqai last night.

The accident happened in Thatto Heath Road in Thatto Heath around 8pm and one resident said: "They've closed the whole section off and there's a car in the middle of the road."

Today Merseyside Police said the driver stopped at the scene.

It is not believed the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police are now urging witnesses to come forward and anyone with dashcam footage to make themselves known.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 8pm, emergency services were called to Thatto Heath Road to reports of a collision involving a black Nissan Qashqai and a male pedestrian in his 50s.

"The man is being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries."

The spokesperson added: "The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting the Matrix Roads Policing Team with enquiries."

Urging witnesses to get in touch Inspector Stuart McIver said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who saw this incident, or the aftermath, and captured any footage on dashcam or bodycam.

"Likewise, if you have CCTV from a property on Thatto Heath Road, please get in touch to assist our enquiries."
