Teenager in hospital with stab wound after fight on Manchester street

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Monsall.

Police say a fight broke between a group of people on Swanley Avenue shortly before 7.20pm on Friday.

A man, 19, was taken to hospital with a stab wound. Police say he is in a non-life-threatening condition.

One resident said they heard shouting and glass being smashed as the fight unfolded.

An area of Swanley Avenue was sealed off by police on Friday night.

Greater Manchester Police say the stabbing is being treated as an isolated incident.

Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area this weekend as a precaution.

No one has been arrested.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 7.20pm on Friday 6 June 2020 to a report of a group of people fighting on Swanley Avenue, Monsall, Manchester.

"Emergency services attended and a man aged 19 was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound.

"It is being treated as an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the community.



"Extra patrols will be visible in the area throughout the weekend.

"No arrests have currently been made."
