Man taken to hospital after being rescued from River Trent

A man rescued from the River Trent has been taken to hospital.

Emergency services rescued him after being called to Mill Lane, Newark, earlier on Monday morning (September 9).

He has been taken to the King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Mill Lane, in Newark, at around 10.30am on September 9 following reports of a man in the River Trent.

"The man was rescued at around 11am and taken out the water by fire officers. He has been taken to King's Mill Hospital."

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 10.46am on September 9 from our colleagues in Nottinghamshire Police requesting medical assistance at Mill Lane in Newark.

"We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car, a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance.

"One patient has been taken to King's Mill Hospital by land ambulance.”

A Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said a boat, short ladder and throw lines were used.

Crews from Newark were called to the scene, including a specialist rescue unit, equipped with a boat.

Firefighters had left the scene by 11.17am.
